The shell of the pumpkin, or more specifically the "totumo" is used in Latin America as a material to make rustic accessories, musical instruments and of course for exotic jewellery!

The treatment of "totumo" is an artisan process; first the "totumo" dries under the sun. When dry, it is cut into smaller pieces using a special cutter. The result are pieces that have a wood like finish. Finally, a resin treatment is added to give them resistance and a shiny finish.
